I Have More Than 30 Years of Experience

Michael James Radford is a specialist knee and sports surgeon with expertise in all forms of knee replacement, sports reconstruction, cartilage repair and arthroscopic surgery. He has a specialist interest in young person arthritis

He qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1992. He undertook orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oxford rotation. Michael spent a year specialising in knee surgery at the world renowned North Sydney Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre.
As well as maintaining a busy clinical practice, Michael continues to teach as part of the faculty on the final FRCS (Tr&Orth) revision courses in Bristol and Oxford.

Michael’s skill as a surgeon has been recognised by industry.

He is on the expert forum for the Oxford Knee replacement teaching nationally and internationally on its correct implantation. He is also on the expert forum for the Lars Ligament and one of the few national surgeons to be selected by Smith and Nephew to attend their annual forum
Michael is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, British Orthopaedic Association and British Association for Surgery of the knee.
Michael remains a very keen sportsman. He played rugby and waterpolo at medical school.  As the years creep up he has turned to endurance events. He has completed two half ironman triathlons and raced in international cycling marathons. Michael still plays golf, tennis and sails, family permitting!

Practice Standards

A Personalized Program

Every patient is different. and everybody has different problems and different needs.

That is why my consultations are always tailored to the patient in front of me rather than a 'one size fits all' approach.

The Setting of Realistic Expectations

I pride myself on being honest with my patients. There is nothing worse than expecting something that cannot be delivered. If a surgery is the best option for you then I will tell you so but equally if it is not then I may suggest better alternatives.

I will always be honest about the expected outcomes of any treatments and what you can expect afterwards.

No Unnecessary Products
or Services

I will always suggest treatments and investigation that I think will help.

I will never over investigate or suggest treatments that I dont think will benefit you

I believe that decisions about your health are made by the doctor and patient working together
